Why we exist
Our mission is simple: to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
That sentence has guided everything we do since we first opened our doors in Whittier. It drives how we design our programs, how we train our staff, and how we show up every day for thousands of kids who count on us.
We believe every child deserves a safe place to learn and grow. Every teen deserves someone who believes in them. And every family deserves a partner who takes their child's future seriously.
That's what the Boys & Girls Club of Whittier & Pico Rivera is — and has always been.
What we stand for
- Safe Environment Every Club location is a place where kids feel protected, respected, and free to be themselves.
- Positive Relationships Our staff and volunteers aren't just program facilitators — they're mentors who build real, lasting connections with the young people we serve.
- Opportunity for All We serve youth ages 4–18 regardless of background or ability, and we work hard to keep our programs accessible to every family in our community.
- Academic Focus We take education seriously. From daily homework help to college preparation, we're invested in every member's success in school and beyond.
Rooted in Whittier. Growing with the community
The Boys & Girls Club of Whittier has deep roots in this community. What started as a small local effort to give kids a positive place to go after school has grown into one of the most far-reaching youth organizations in the San Gabriel Valley.
Today we operate at 37 locations — from our main clubhouse on Greenleaf Ave to school sites across five local districts — serving thousands of young people every year. We've expanded to Pico Rivera, partnered with schools, launched new programs, and grown our team. But the mission has never changed.
The people who make it happen
Great futures don't build themselves. Behind every program, every success story, and every kid who walks through our doors is a dedicated team of staff members and volunteers who show up — every single day.
Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors brings together local leaders, community advocates, and professionals who are committed to the long-term success of BGCW and the youth we serve.
Transparency matters to us
We want our donors, partners, and community to see exactly where their investment goes. Our annual reports outline our programs, our reach, and our financials.
Every child, every day — safe
The safety of every young person in our care is non-negotiable. BGCW maintains a formal, organization-wide commitment to creating safe environments — physically, emotionally, and digitally — for all Club members.
